Owning Up To Top 5 Tuesday || Anticipated Reads – Read Or Not?

What it says on the tin. I look back at my T5T anticipated reads to see what I told myself I’d read throughout the year, if I’ve read it or not, and definitely if I’ve reviewed it yet! This is just a fun little thing so hopefully I won’t be too hard on myself. Yes, this was all written in 2022 and was meant to go up before the year ended. Obviously that didn’t work out but whatever it’s all here.

Top 5 (anticipated reads for Jan-Mar 2022) Tuesday

One For All by Lillie Lainoff – I’m actually reading this right now! I need to get back to it because I’ve been prioritising other reads (as goes it) but I’ll definitely try to finish this before the middle of Janaury!

Right Where I Left You by Julian Winters – I’m just leaving this here and waLKING AWAY.

All the Right Reasons by Bethany Mangle  – Definitely want to get to this soon and I hope I can!

Gallant by V.E. Schwab – I think I did actually put a hold on this and then cancelled it to focus on other books… so maybe this year? Is the mantra that I use for like every book ahaha.

So This is Ever After by F.T. Lukens – Let’s just carry on to the next post, okay?

Top 5 (anticipated reads for Apr-Jun 2022) Tuesday

Hell Followed with Us by Andrew Joseph White – Another still-haven’t-read-this-arc. Let’s just leave this here once again.

Queen of the Tiles by Hanna Alkaf  – I think I’m waiting to be finished with a lot of fantasy books to then sink my teeth into a string of non-fantasy books. Sure, this is a mystery and not a contemporary, but still!

I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston – WELL YOU KNOW, I still haven’t read One Last Stop, and I also want to reread Red, White, and Royal Blue, so maybe I should just read all of them πŸ˜„.

Before Takeoff by Adi Alsaid – I did read it and reviewed it here! I liked it and maybe want to read other Alsaid books some time soon.

If You Change Your Mind by Robby Weber  – I think I… overestimated what I wanted to read and what I’ve managed to read by far.

Top 5 (anticipated books for July-Sep 2022) Tuesday

What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher – I did read it and also it’s my first Kingfisher book. I must say I was sort of… underwhelmed. Yeah. I know one of my favourite directors (Mike Flannigan) is making a tv series based on The Fall of House Usher (is that the right title?) so I’m definitely more interested in that. This book, however, it just didn’t give enough for me.

These Fleeting Shadows by Kate Alice Marshall – Read and reviewed here! Kate Alice Marshall strikes again! 2023 has to be the year where I read her backlist.

Kingdom of the Feared by Kerri Maniscalco – It’s REALLY terrible how much I was looking forward to this and then… just didn’t pick it up. Granted I’d have to reread the first two books (maybe in ebook this time? I’ll see) before getting to this one. But I want to!

The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas  – I think this was probably my most anticipated 2022 release and alas I didn’t get around to it. But this way I don’t have to wait so long to get the sequel?

A Prayer for the Crown-Shy by Becky Chambers – Read and LOVED and still need to review!! I have no idea if this is the last one or if Chambers will write 20 more but I am here for absolutely all of them.

Top 5 (anticipated reads for Oct-Dec 2022) Tuesday

The Vermilion Emporium by Jamie Pacton – Uhhh no. Let’s just. Not look at this whole section.

Never Ever Getting Back Together by Sophie Gonzales – Walk a bit further away, okay?

Well Traveled by Jen DeLuca – No REALLY, there’s NOTHING TO SEE HERE.

The Luminaries by Susan Dennard – Well you see what happened… was that uhm… aliens?

A Million to One by Adiba Jaigirdar – You know, it’s this really interesting phenomenon that should be studied. We say we’re going to read a book and then we don’t? It’s very very interesting and I think instead of reading we should uhh work on this.

So, 20 books overall. Currently reading one, 4 read, 2 of those have reviews written). You know, it could be worse. I could’ve read NONE of them. I think I’ll do this again next this year and hopefully I’d get to many half? Maybe I should just shoot for 5. Don’t want to shoot for the stars and then land in the furthest gutter, you know?
