I think I’ve done a pretty good job of reading this year. Some arcs, some backlist, some new books. Pretty good, I might say! Some of the reads this year have been by new authors (either new to me or debut authors, either way, new). And that’s what we’re here for on this fine Tuesday day!
This is the second last Top 5 Tuesday post for this year! I’ve enjoyed doing them so so much and I can’t wait to see what Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads has in store for next year!

Hannah Whitten (GR) – I nearly finished For the Throne but I’m gonna reread it because I sped through it and… barely retained anything π€¦π» But I’m very much looking forward to her new book (The Foxglove King) because it looks so interesting!
Grady Hendrix (GR) – I picked up My Best Friend’s Exorcism because it was adapted into a movie (the book was absolutely stellar and I loved every second. We don’t talk about the movie – my annoyance of it will be in a post… soon). I definitely want to delve into Hendrix’s other releases next year. How To Sell a Haunted House looks so good! I love anything to do with a haunted house.
Seth Haddon (GR) – I heard about this book through Tiktok and I’m so so happy that it was actually good compared to other TikTok books… But Haddon has firmly cemented himself as a favourite author and I can’t wait for his other books!
Becky Chambers (GR) – LITERALLY cannot tell you how much joy and happiness Monk & Robot has brought me. I have no idea if the series is only two books (and thus finished) or if there’ll be more. I think the Wayfarer series is also sorta cozy? So I definitely want to read that next.
Beth O’Leary (GR) – Me this year – wait, do I like romance? Apparently so but like only more contemporary ones/if they read like fanfiction. I’ve read three O’Leary books now and I loved the first two so much, the third one wasn’t so excellent. But still very amped to read whatever else O’Leary puts out (still have The Road Trip to get to). I loved The Switch and The Flatshare so so much, they were so cozy and warm and it was excellent.
Margaret Owen (GR) – I so so thoroughly enjoyed Owen’s Little Thieves this year and uhh the fact that I STILL have an arc of The Merciful Crow… This came out in 2019… But now that I KNOW I’ll love The Merciful Crow I can pick it up the next year, yes? Or am I just lying to myself big big time here.

It’s always nice to discover new authors and enjoy them! I hope to discover even more this next year – who even knows what time is anymore. This time in the year I’m half 202-this year, half 202-whatever and 100% who even knows how time works anymore. What are some authors you discovered this year? Come tell me down below in the comments! Did we share any names?

heey, I got Grady hendrix too !! Same, I wanna read how to sell a haunted house, but I read The final girl support group instead π I’ll be discovering Beth O’Leary in 2023, finally, just ordered the no-show!

Yeah I can’t wait for How to Sell a Haunted House! I might pick up support group or southern guide book before haunted house comes out.
Yay! Excited to see what you think of her!
