26 Facts About Me! || Birthday Post!

Yes, it is my birthday! Right now I’m nearing the end of it because this post goes up late. And I thought what would be fun is to give you 26 facts (because that’s how old I am today 😶). All right, let’s get to it! Guess I have to change my age on my socials again 🤦🏻‍♂️ 😄

1. Well, yeah, today (22 October) is my birthday, lol. I’m 26 today but my joints definitely feel late 30s.
2. I’m able to fulfill the prophecy in Macbeth if it comes to that 😂 Listen, there’s a lot of facts on here so they can’t all be serious.
3. So my blog name comes from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – I have actually never read the books 😂. I’m missing the one book (I’ll find it soon in a 2nd hand shop, I’m sure of it). I’ve watched the movie (with Martin Freeman as the main character) like twice. I just happened to watch the movie around the same time and got the name stuck in my head 😂 😂 I’M A FRAUD, I KNOW!
4. As a kid I read thick books in a short amount of time – like 700+ pgs in 3 days and so forth. I have now very much lost that ability – as well with being to read while watching something – lost that recently and am trying to figure out how to get it BACK.
5. I read/listen (whatever you want to call it – I say both) to audiobooks on 2x speed!
6. I once believed that the word WINDOW was spelt incorrectly (nobody told me to think so, and I didn’t know how it SHOULD be spelt correctly EITHER) for like half a year.
7. I am a mega, huge Percy Jackson fan and yet I still haven’t read The Trials of Apollo…
8. On that note, my godly parent is Hades! First had Athena but I realised that’s just because I thought my being smart meant I had to be in the ‘smart cabin’.
9. I would sneak into my sister’s room or just walk over to her bookshelf if we were sharing a room and read her J.R. Ward books when she was at work or at friends – even after she told me not to 😂. Now we chat about the books!
10. In Primary School, my school has a farewell evening for the Grade 7s. The hall is decorated in whatever theme and the gr.7s dress up as famous people/characters. I went to an all-girls school so most girls went as a female celebrity because hair and makeup. Needing to be different, of course, I… went as Mr. Bean. And then learnt the moves from his busking scene from Mr. Bean’s Holiday – specifically the Mr. Bombastic song – and used the song. My friends bring it up regularly and they show it to about everyone. Safe to say, it is probably, along with teachers nearly hitting me with their car because I was walking and reading, my legacy at the school.
11. I can’t dance or sing but that doesn’t stop me in the slightest! And neither should it you!
12. I detest dried fruit, don’t eat raisins, or watermelon. I don’t like to eat bananas but I’ll eat like 5 loaves of banana bread all by myself.
13. I like to spread Peanut Butter and Mayonnaise on toast, or Mayonnaise and Sweet Chili Sauce – they’re really good, okay!
14. I have a middle name – Katya (my mom wanted a cat name 😂).
15. I’ve smoked cigarettes before (mom, look away). Filtered ones (like mint and stuff – are actually nice).
16. I’ve been on two dates (two different people) and both were so so awkward 🤦🏻‍♂️.
17. We used to keep silkworms – let them free after they turned into moths. I loved seeing the cycle – them changing, creating their cocoons. Then I think my first year of high school the ‘craze’ turned to snails but I never got into that.
18. I’ve worn glasses since grade 3 and broke MANY pairs until we found that a plastic frame is much easier for me (and the bridge doesn’t cut into my nose like the wire frames did – I prefer having my glasses tight on my face. You can still see the line on my nose). Broke so many frames and had many bad styles – I look back at the photos and cringe a lot 😂
19. I have to watch something to fall asleep. so I rotate between a couple of movies and try to find other movies to use. It needs to be something I’ve watched a bunch of times before, usually a kid’s movie. I put the brightness to the lowest and the sound just right so it’s not too loud but loud enough for me to hear.
20. We’ve always had cats and dogs growing up. I would like to have a hamster or rabbit but uhh yeah cats and who knows with some breeds of dogs. Birds freak me out with their wings all the time.
21. Along with my weird toast spreads, I love eating toast or popcorn late at night. As in after midnight (I only manage to fall asleep after 2 and I love to snack lol).
22. Thirteen is my favourite number.
23. My favourite colour is purple and I love wearing it. I also love mint green and orange and discovered I look good in those colours!
24. I love playing video games. Can’t currently play them but The Sims and Assassin’s Creed were my favourite. On my phone right now I love Merging games. I’d love to have multiple consoles and multiple games.
25. I have about 29 book ideas (help, they seem to be expanding and I need to start getting to them).
26. I have three nicknames! My actual name is Daniela, but I mostly get called Dan, Danny, or DB! Even my family calls me DB. When I introduce myself to someone I give them all the nicknames and tell them to choose one. Or if they know one of my friends I just use DB because they all use DB.

Yay! I had fish and chips for supper (snoek, very popular South African fish), so I did enjoy my birthday (I mean I also didn’t really want to do much anyway so I’m not bothered 😂). That’s it! Did you enjoy learning facts about me? I think next year I’ll just do recommendations because really it’s so many facts to try to think of 😂.
