Would it surprise you to say that I’m not really a holiday in book reader? Either like books set around a holiday or books where the characters go on a holiday. As you know, my favourite genre is fantasy. Holidays are more really quests, and usually quests are about finding something/ stopping a creature/ stopping the end of the world happening… so not a holiday 😂
As always thank you to Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads for this prompt and let’s get cracking to see where we’re going! And trying to choose actual holiday destinations. 😂 And don’t forget to look where Meeghan would like to go!

One by One by Ruth Ware (GR/SG) – Sure… People dying is not really considered a vacation. But people still get away from their home, right? Except, of course, they won’t all go back… ➡
When an off-site company retreat meant to promote mindfulness and collaboration goes utterly wrong when an avalanche hits, the corporate food chain becomes irrelevant and survival trumps togetherness. Come Monday morning, how many members short will the team be?
The #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Turn of the Key and In a Dark Dark Wood returns with another suspenseful thriller set on a snow-covered mountain.

The Guest List by Lucy Foley (GR/SG) – Once again, I think this focuses more on the death/s? than any type of vacation 😂 ➡
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine, or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.
But perfection is for plans, and people are all too human. As the champagne is popped and the festivities begin, resentments and petty jealousies begin to mingle with the reminiscences and well wishes. The groomsmen begin the drinking game from their school days. The bridesmaid not-so-accidentally ruins her dress. The bride’s oldest (male) friend gives an uncomfortably caring toast.
And then someone turns up dead. Who didn’t wish the happy couple well? And perhaps more important, why?

A Holly Jolly Diwali by Sonya Lalli (GR/SG) – Christmas isn’t the only holiday celebrated around the end of the year! As Diwali is actually around October. ➡
Twenty-nine-year-old Niki Randhawa has always made practical decisions. Despite her love for music and art, she became an analyst for the stability. She’s always stuck close to home, in case her family needed her. And she’s always dated guys that seem good on paper, rather than the ones who give her butterflies. When she’s laid off, Niki realizes that practical hasn’t exactly paid off for her. So for the first time ever, she throws caution to the wind and books a last-minute flight for her friend Diya’s wedding.
Niki arrives in India just in time to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights, where she meets London musician Sameer Mukherji. Maybe it’s the splendor of Mumbai or the magic of the holiday season, but Niki is immediately drawn to Sam. At the wedding, the champagne flows and their flirtatious banter makes it clear that the attraction is mutual.
When Niki and Sam join Diya, her husband and their friends on a group honeymoon, their connection grows deeper. Free-spirited Sam helps Niki get in touch with her passionate and creative side, and with her Indian roots. When she gets a new job offer back home, Niki must decide what she wants out of the next chapter of her life–to cling to the straight and narrow like always, or to take a leap of faith and live the kind of bold life the old Niki never would have dreamed of.

The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox (GR/SG) – This actually looks really cute – I think I’m getting me and more used to romance books so who knows? Maybe I’ll pick this up around Christmas! ➡
All they want for Christmas is a different life.
When chef Charlie Goodwin gets hit on the head on the L.A. set of her reality baking show, she loses a lot more than consciousness; she also loses her ability to taste and smell–both critical to her success as show judge. Meanwhile, Charlie’s identical twin, Cass, is frantically trying to hold her own life together back in their quaint mountain hometown while running the family’s bustling bakery and dealing with her ex, who won’t get the memo that they’re over.
With only days until Christmas, a desperate Charlie asks Cass to do something they haven’t done since they were kids: switch places. Looking for her own escape from reality, Cass agrees. But temporarily trading lives proves more complicated than they imagined, especially when rugged firefighter Jake Greenman and gorgeous physician’s assistant Miguel Rodriguez are thrown into the mix. Will the twins’ identity swap be a recipe for disaster, or does it have all the right ingredients for getting their lives back on track?

You’re a Mean One, Matthew Prince by Timothy Janovsky (GR/SG) – OUT: October 4th. I’M SORRY this isn’t it available right now 😭😭😭 ➡
Not today, Santa.
Matthew Prince is young, rich, and thoroughly spoiled. So what if his parents barely remember he exists and the press is totally obsessed with him? He’s on top of the world. But one major PR misstep later, and Matthew is cut off and shipped away to spend the holidays in his grandparents’ charming small town hellscape. Population: who cares?
It’s bad enough he’s stuck in some festive winter wonderland—it’s even worse that he has to share space with Hector Martinez, an obnoxiously attractive local who’s unimpressed with anything and everything Matthew does.
Just when it looks like the holiday season is bringing nothing but heated squabbles, the charity gala loses its coordinator and Matthew steps in as a saintly act to get home early on good behavior…with Hector as his maddening plus-one. But even a Grinch can’t resist the unexpected joy of found family, and in the end, the forced proximity and infectious holiday cheer might be enough to make a lonely Prince’s heart grow three sizes this year.
📚🚀📚
Listen, I’m also mega upset about You’re a Mean One, Matthew Prince but you CAN read the first book, Never Been Kissed! Which I plan to do… as soon as I finish my enormous current stack of books to read 🙈😵

DB!! Those first two sound like terrible holidays!! 😂 Murder is NOT a fun time!! Unless you’re Hercule Poirot and love a good murder investigation while you’re traveling the world… Hope you had fun with the topic?! 💕
