Randomising my Tbr #2 || Up to 20, let’s go!

Okay I’m changing it to 20 books 😂 if I take away, let’s say, 4 books from 10 books… Then I might add like 6 other books. Which does absolutely nothing. But if I take like 9 books off from 20 books, let’s say I add 6, that’s 3 I haven’t added! Yes, I’m aware that the Math isn’t Mathing. I read in a lot of my Maths classes 😂

Now that I added my current Goodreads shelf count… I’ve added more books that what I previously STARTED WITH. See, good reason to go with 20 books 🤦🏻‍♀️

  • The Steps
    • Go to all of your shelves. I mean the to-be-read books mingled in with the mixed books and all.
    • Click to show 20 books (for Goodreads, that’s down at the bottom).
    • Also on Goodreads, click to sort the books by random.
Now you have 20 random books!
    • Go through each book. Do you need to read it? See if you can read it now/in the next 2 weeks/month! Haven’t read it and realised you’re no longer planning to? Remove it! Oh goodness, you’ve read it but haven’t reviewed it yet? Make a plan to review it!
    • Or, you can do what I do and add extra tbr shelves (high-tbr and to-read-next) 😂 I have a system! Sort of..
    • OPTIONAL: Go to your Kindle and scroll randomly and choose some books/arcs you haven’t read yet (largely for me 😭)

GOODREADS SHELF BEFORE: 3254 AFTER: 3246

📚🚀📚

REMOVE

Antisocial by Jillian Blake (GR/SG) – I can see this it’s trying very hard to be Mean Girls but a) Mean Girls is Mean Girls and b) the whole point of the movie is to be satirical. The sample I read and the reviews make it seem more of Mean Girls 2 – which was absolutely awful.

A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet (GR/SG) – I might have been slightly interested in this by the synopsis but then I read some reviews that have left me not interested. Apparently there’s some dubious consent and the main character is childish in her narration (when it’s an adult book) so definitely no.

Chelsea High by Jenny Oliver (GR/SG) – I added this in 2019 and I remember absolutely nothing 😂 The synopsis… Definitely makes me see how much of a different reader I am now. The sample you can read on Amazon also proves that 😂

Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullally Hunt (GR/SG) – I get that it’s meant to be written like that but I just get so annoyed at teachers who don’t see what’s so clearly in front of them.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling (GR/SG) – I’m actually glad this popped up. I’m going to put the main series on my no-no-no shelf and all other books by her will be taken off.

Last One Left Alive by Sarah Davis-Goff (GR/SG) – I might have been interested in it but reviews and sample have told me otherwise. Like it’s set in a zombie apocalypse but she’s travelling in broad daylight outside on what sounds like the open-road. I also didn’t like the writing – is why I enjoy samples because they I can specifically look at the writing and get a glimpse of the characters to see if I’ll like it.

Now and Forever by Susane Colasanti (GR/SG) – I guess I must’ve really been into contemporary books back then? I think it’s probably Wattpad 😂 But now this is definitely a no

Paranormal Public by Maddy Edwards (GR/SG) – I purchased this in 2016 – definitely when my reading tastes were wildly different. So not only will I remove this from my shelves, I’ll be removing from Kindle (which I’m also slowly/should be going through.

SHELF-OF-SOON

Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh (GR/SG) – This will stay on here until I get my hands on a physical copy because my library doesn’t have a ebook/audio copy.

Over the Woodward Wall by Deborah A. Barker (GR/SG) – i definitely do want to read it. Just not right now? I loved Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant – one of Seanan McGuire’s pen names as Barker is another of McGuire’s pen names – so I’ll probably love this a lot. It’s just not something I want to read right now? If that makes sense. But I’ll revisit it later.

Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles (GR/SG) – I do see there’s mixed reviews so whenever I pick this book up I’ll keep that in mind – maybe if I don’t like it I won’t feel bad about it. Though I don’t feel bad about dnfing books anymore 😌 the days are short and you’re but a single leaf ready to be stepped on or whatever.

REVIEW

Chameleon Moon by RoAnna Sylver (GR/SG) – I’ve already read this and l loved it so definite time to leave it a review! Hopefully next month?

Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall (GR/SG) – I absolutely loved reading this the first time around and now I have a physical copy so I’ll probably listen to the audiobook as I don’t think I compiled my thoughts into a proper review.

TO-READ-NEXT

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik (GR/SG) – I think I did take this out physically the one time but didn’t do anything so! Time to read it! I put it on hold (audiobook because that’s my main way now) so I’m sure to read it after the first Bridgerton book (yes, I’m on that train. The book’s good so far!)

The Beautiful by Renée Ahdieh (GR/SG) – I have actually read this before but I need to read it again to carry on with the trilogy. Either as an ebook or a physical – but it seems like physical books are easier right now.

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard (GR/SG) – This is the sequel to Red Queen, the first book, which I do want to read. So I’m marking the first and second books and will get to them soon!

UNRELEASED

The Sevenfold Hunters by Rose Egal (GR/SG) – When I read the synopsis I instantly wanted to go find it but it’s not until October?? But it sounds absolutely amazing.

📚🚀📚

I don’t know how much of these I’ll do, but I hope it’ll be for a while and it’ll do something really good! I’m excited for the books I’ve to read and I hope I really like them! And also hopefully not add too many books now 😅
