Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco (Book Review) || I NEED the next book NOW

I thought this was a duology and was very excited to find that it’s a trilogy. But now? Now I have to wait until next year to read the third book? This is the worst thing ever, I absolutely recommend this book 😂

I tried not to add too many spoilers but like… It’s a sequel so I hope you’re not reading this and you haven’t read the first book. I mean, you could! It would just be weird and you would see spoilers.

As much as I thought I loved reading the first book, I enjoyed reading the second book EVEN more! This is exactly how I like to have a book series go from one age demographic to another. Kingdom of the Wicked was Young Adult and Kingdom of the Cursed is definitely New Adult – not just because there’s sex but also there’s themes you wouldn’t really see in a Young Adult book.

But honestly this was such a good transition from one age demographic to another. The first book was a dark Upper YA book so to take that and write a dark New Adult Book was easy. And oh so good.

This picks up immediately after the first book (which I like) and it’s just set in Hell. Which was amazing. I loved all the detail we got about the place and the different sin corridors were fascinating. The setting and world-building that we got in this book was really well-written. You could tell Maniscalco had spent a lot of time working on that.

I loved where we went with Emilia and Wrath – their personalities and story and relationship, I mean. I loved them even more this time around and I’d love to spend time with both of them. I think we should make some food.

I absolutely enjoyed the plot and all the secrets we found out. I did predict one of the secrets (if you’ve read it and we’re mutuals somewhere, tell me and we can chat about it) so while I wasn’t exactly surprised by that one secret I predicted, I was still (sort of) shocked at the revelation – which means that’s really good writing!

And the way the book ended… I don’t want to even SPEAK about it, I just want to HAVE the third book in my hands right now. If not now, like at Christmas.
