YES YES YES YES. LET’S DO THIS. Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads has given us all permission to talk about our favourite tropes! Better look at her post to see what she likes!
GR = Goodreads. SG = The Storygraph. Oh, and I, uh, had to omit the synopses otherwise this would be more like a short story😅
📚🚀📚
1. FAKE DATING
Am I, myself, personally, super interested in dating and relationships? Meh. If I were given the opportunity to be in a fake relationship, would I? Absolutely. I love reading this trope because I’ve read it so many times in fanfics that the timeline and plot is easy and nice to read.
Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall (GR/SG) –
Haven’t read it, but a lot of friends say it’s really good. And also it’s exactly what I like to see!! That oh I think I’m falling for the other person and it can’t be…
⭐⭐⭐
Hani and Ishu’s Guide to Fake Dating by Adiba Jaigirdar (GR/SG) –
This looks so cute! Really wanna get to this soon! Please make me read this soon!
⭐⭐⭐
The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon (GR/SG) – I‘m not a huge fan of romance. I’m good with romance if it’s coupled with something else – fantasy, paranormal, etc. I’m also fine if it reads like fanfiction – which hopefully this looks like it.
⭐⭐⭐
Counting Down with You by Tashie Bhuiyan by (GR/SG) – The 👏school👏resident👏bad👏boy👏 AND he promises to BUY HER BOOKS?? I’m already on like 9 books that I’m reading at the moment 😭 but soooon

2. FOUND FAMILY
Found family has always been and will always be one of my favourite tropes. I’m big on family and also friends being part of your family.
The House in the Cerulean Sea by T. J. Klune (GR/SG) –
This isn’t a long book so I should be able to get through it pretty quickly… Whenever I get to it 😄
⭐⭐⭐
The Wicker King by K. Ancrum (GR/SG) –
I love this book. Absolutely one of my favourites! Definitely recommend if you, like me, like codependent relationships!
⭐⭐⭐
Chameleon Moon by RoAnna Sylver (GR/SG) – One of my absolute favourite books!!! Sylver is such a fantastic author and I love the characters in this book and how they interact with each other.

3. ENSEMBLE CAST
There’s just something I love about reading synopses and seeing the words squad/team/group or the ever amazing ‘a thief, a criminal, etc’ thing aka The Breakfast Club schtick. I love seeing these books and can’t get enough of them!
Eight Will Fall by Sarah Harian (GR/SG) –
Okay so, magic is outlawed and a 17 year old has to lead 8 criminals and kill an ancient evil. That’s all I need to know 😌
⭐⭐⭐
Into the Crooked Place by Alexandra Christo (GR/SG) –
FOUR MAGICAL OUTSIDERS MUST WORK TOGETHER TO SAVE THEIR HOME AND WORLD BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.

4. ENEMIES -TO-LOVERS
This includes rivals to lovers and also ‘I don’t hate you, just dislike you’ – is that maybe indifference-to-lovers? Whatever, I’m here for it.
These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong (GR/SG) –
Look, I KNOW the source material, so therefore I don’t want to read this, but also I do want to read this – do you see my dilemma?

5. HEISTS
Obviously, right! It’s a staple fantasy trope and I’ll gladly drink them all up! And speaking of drinkin… Here’s a book I really want to read (but now have to WAIT??)
A Tempest of Teas by Hafsah Faizal (GR/SG) – YES, I know this comes out only in October 2022… But I want to read it nowwwwww 😆😭
📚🚀📚
I spent time on this one because I wanted to find books that I haven’t shown before (and also they’re all unread 😂 except for Chameleon Moon).
What are some tropes that you’ve seen a hundred times before but will gladly see again? Come give them to me and let’s gush over them!
