To sum up, ages ages ago I broke my arc ban and Soph over at Bookwyrming Thoughts CAUGHT ME. The punishment was that I had to write 2 posts and the topics were her choosing. The first post is here and now she’s FORCING ME to cull my tbr of AT LEAST 10 books!
Honestly, it will probably be easier than I thought because a lot of these books I have no idea when or why I added it π I’ll just be randomising my want to read list by 10s until I remove (at least) 10!! My current tbr shelf is 2130 π²
Edit – hilariously, because I took so long to finish this post, my tbr is now at 2141 ππ I’m definitely making a plan/post series to cull my tbr so look out for that because I’ll probably make it into a series where you can join along too!
πππ
Pretty by Justin Sayre – I added this in 2016? What even happened that year? I think this was BEFORE I had a blog π It’s also a sequel and I don’t have the first book on the list π So… YOU CAN GO
You Have a Match by Emma Lord – After reading and LOVING Tweet Cute, I’m definitely looking forward to reading this book. YOU CAN STAY
A Wicked Magic by Sasha Laurens – Obviously I must’ve been interested in this but not now. It has a pretty cover, but the synopsis isn’t doing anything for me. YOU CAN GO
The Ophelia Girls by Jane Healey – Well, yes, this is most definitely not up my usual reading alley but it just looks so interesting? And i’s not out yet so I don’t know what it’s like so YOU CAN STAY
Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett – I probably just saw High Fantasy and the cool cover and just pressed WANT π. And luckily I do still want to read it because it sounds so fascinating! Like, it’s a HEIST book – so of course YOU CAN STAY

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark: Three Books to Chill Your Bones: All 3 Scary Stories Books with the Original Art! by Alvin Schwartz, Stephen Gammell – So this was obviously added when I watched the movie – but I have no idea why I added this version and not like the normal one or the movie tie-in edition! So, yeah, I think I’ll just mark this as YOU CAN GO and maybe I’ll read another version somewhere along the line π
Other Words for Smoke by Sarah Maria Griffin – It sounds super good! Very ‘house and its occupants are more than what they seem’ and that does make me interested. YOU CAN STAY.
The Feminist Agenda of Jemima Kincaid by Kate Hattemer – I was very super interested in this again when I read the synopsis and then I scrolled down to read the reviews and sheesh, what a main character. Unfortunately, YOU CAN GO on account of being a main character I would most detest with a passion.
Wonderland: An Anthology by Marie O’Regan (Editor), Paul Kane (Editor) – Another book that I had NO IDEA was on my shelf π I have a feeling that’s about 32% of my shelf? It’s probably like over 50% but I choose not to do Maths until I really really have to. But I still want to read it! YOU CAN STAY.
Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater – I keep thinking I’ve read The Raven Cycle but…I’ve only read the first 2 books π So yeah YOU CAN STAY on account that I need to read your prequel series.

Fortitude Smashed by Taylor Brooke – I did not realise I had this book on here and there’s.. just so much that can be said (negatively) about the author; so I will just say YOU CAN GO and be on my merry way.
The Babysitters Coven by Kate Williams – I was super into this book when I first heard about it. And then my friend, Kal, also read it and because I trust her reviews a lot, YOU CAN GO – the book, not Kal, of course.
Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson – I’ve heard a lot about Jackson’s books so I guess I need to read one of them sometime! But also I don’t know if this one is the best one to start with – as it looks quite intense. YOU CAN STAY and maybe I’ll start with another one of Jackson’s books!
Painless by Jamie Mayer – Honestly do not remember adding this πΉ I sort of see why I would’ve, though? But now that I’m looking back and reading the synopsis and seeing the (probable) love interest being stated as ‘sensitive but troubled’ in the synopsis. Didn’t like that at all so YOU CAN GO.
The Bright Lands by John Fram – When I first saw the cover I actually thought it was some coming-of-age contemporary novel – which it isn’t π it’s an adult mystery thriller π. Looks good though so YOU CAN STAY

Untitled by Huntley Fitzpatrick – This was either meant to come out in 2018 or we would have more news about it in 2018. neither has happened. Since I don’t think I’m a huge fan of Fitzpatrick’s books and the fact that’s it’s like 2021 now and we have no news… YOU CAN GO
Birdy by William Wharton – Cannot imagine me reading this at all so of course that must mean… YOU CAN GO.
Crier’s War by Nina Varela – I’m still super interested in reading this (and its sequel), so I will! Just… not right now π YOU CAN STAY because I’ve seen a lot of good things about it!
I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maureen Goo – Yes, this does look a bit cringey but a lot of people say it’s really good so YOU CAN STAY
Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody – Trust me, I’m definitely very interested in reading this one. I just have to find the time to read it!! YOU CAN STAY and be read.

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake – Another series I know is very popular so YOU CAN STAY and I will try my best to read it soon. Soon-ish π
When the Sun Sets: A Short Story by Lou Yardley – This sounds like a good spooky read and it’s a short one too! YOU CAN STAY
Murder Among the Stars by Adam Shankman and Laura L. Sullivan – Another book that’s actually a sequel and I don’t have the first book on my shelf π. I did look read books’ synopses and reviews and while the synopses do look interesting; the reviews say otherwise. YOU CAN GO and I’ll look elsewhere for mysteries.
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken – Another book-to-movie adaptation that I’ve only seen the movie of π I did like it, so YOU CAN STAY and I’ll get to you… When my tbr stops adding books by itself π
Historia Nocturna. Las Raices Antropologicas del Relato by Carlo Ginzburg – Have no idea if this translated version is even out. And it doesn’t really look all that interesting to me. YOU CAN GO, sorry!
πππ
Have you done this sort of thing before? Taking some random books from your tbr and seeing if you’re still interested in it or not? Were you successful? Do you see any books in my list that you didn’t like? Or maybe you absolutely loved? Come tell me down below in the comments!

Haha this was a great post to read and now I can see why you have such big tar! Glad you could reduce 10 books tho!

*has war flashbacks to The Babysitter’s Coven*
Honestly I am so happy that I saved you from that trainwreck; it’s still one of the worst books that I’ve ever read. Glad that Crier’s War stayed (so good!), and I really need to get around to reading Daughter of the Burning City at some point…

I saw the third book on Edelweiss the other day. My first thought was ‘does Kal know it’s a trilogy?’ So yes, I will forever avoid the books thanks to you.
I know a lot of people loved Crier’s duology app so hopefully I’m the same!
