Top 5 (debut novels) Tuesday

I love debut books! There’s something about reading an author’s first book, isn’t there? Figuring out if you like the author or not, if the author is on your auto-read list. Or maybe it’s a genre you don’t read all too often and a certain debut author helped you with that!

Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads is where you can get all these prompts! Go look at which debut books she loved!

Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas – Why yes, I am talking about this book again and I will keep talking about it forever! It’s such a good book!

I have Lost in the Never Woods and just… need to start it. Cemetery Boys definitely cemented (😄 sorry, half-laugh here) Thomas as a favourite author and I can’t wait for more books!

It’s the characters, the way they interact with each other. The dialogue – I can’t wait to listen to the audiobook and hear Julian’s iconic lines.

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston – I need to reread this book 😂 this was such a great debut and I can’t WAIT WAIT WAIT for One Last Stop!!

If you haven’t read this book but are thinking of reading it – this is your sign! It’s definitely now one of my favourite books and I imagine One Last Stop will also be!

Running With Lions by Julian Winters – I haven’t spoken about this book in a while so I’m here to do it again!

Seriously, Julian is very, super much an auto-read author (I like to use that term instead of auto-buy because I don’t buy books all that often) and I get so happy to see when he has a new book out because I know it’ll be beyond fantastic.

The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic – Yes, I am very much trash for this series 😂 I have the trilogy and need to reread it. It’s just so good? In a very trashy way – which means I love it even more.

Like yes, basically all the foxes are bad people – except for Matt. I’m pretty sure he hasn’t done anything that bad? It’s been a bit since I read it 😄

The Wicker King by K. Ancrum – This is such a beautiful book and I am also in need of a reread 😂 I love books whose prose reads like a song and this is definitely one of them. Also the book has mixed media in it – which is one of my favourite things ever!

And here’s some 2021 debuts that I think/know I’ll love!

Counting Down with You by Tashie Bhuiyan – THEY START TO FAKE DATE AND THEN THEY FALL IN LOVE

Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé – This just looks so good!

Witches Steeped in Gold by Ciannon Smart – This cover could punch me and I would thank it and also ask for it again.

Sweet & Bitter Magic by Adrienne Tooley – I’m so excited to read this (in the future, hopefully). It sounds so good!

Daughter of Sparta by Claire M. Andrews – The last modern Greek retelling book I read I dnfed, so I’m hoping I really like this – If I read it.

A Dark and Hollow Star by Ashley Shuttleworth – Fae? FAE!

May the Best Man Win by Z.R. Ellor – If that cover doesn’t immediately make you wanna add it to your tbr, then I don’t know what to tell you.

The Dead and the Dark by Courtney Gould – I’m glad this is only out in August so HOPEFULLY I can read it before then 😄

I mean, I could so easily list like 590 or something titles here 😂 What are some of your favourite debuts? Do you have any on your radar you know will be an instant favourite? Let’s chat about books down below!

Definitely recommend it! I’ve only listened to the audiobook – of RWRB, but it was super cute and I’ll probably try to pick up the ebook soon!
I did love the audiobook, in case you wanted to know. The narrator did a good job.
