Top 5 (anticipated books for 2021) Tuesday

Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads has tasked us with the IMPOSSIBLE prompt of coming up with 5 books we’re heavily looking forward to this year! Go check if she keeps to 5 books, because goodness knows I won’t! But also it’s totally fine if you don’t stick (or do) to the 5 books for T5T – I barely do 😆

The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He – The cover ALONE is just SO BEAUTIFUL. It looks very interesting and THE COVER (once again). I still haven’t read The Descendant of the Crane (as with many other books, I absolutely need to).

Darling by K. Ancrum – I loved The Wicker King so much, and while I haven’t read The Weight of the Stars yet, I know I’m destined to love Darling as Ancrum’s work is so amazing. And it’s a YA thriller retelling of Peter Pan. That makes me so super excited!

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston – I would read McQuiston’s grocery list, seriously. RWB had a pink cover and so does this book and I’m so excited for that! Plus, this book has such an interesting premise and I’ll definitely be wanting to be picking it up!

The Taking of Jake Livingston by Ryan Douglass – I have been so entranced by this book since I first heard of it (and keep thinking it’s called Jake in the box – that’s what the author mostly calls it). It sounds so good and the cover!! Covers are just becoming better by the day and I’m so excited for that (yes, it’s like the third time in the post that I’m using that word). The main character can SEE the DEAD – like if that’s not enough for you to add it, I don’t know what else.

May the Best Man Win by Z.R. Ellor – This one seems like SUCH a cute book – one that’ll certainly want you to read the book into all hours of the night. I so want to read it and I hope you will too!

Lost in the Never Woods by Aiden Thomas – ANOTHER PETER PAN RETELLING! I love Peter Pan so much and I’m so excited that Thomas wants to take on this story. They did an absolute amazing job with Cemetery Boys and I am so pumped to see what’ll happen in this book!

A War of Swallowed Stars by Sangu Mandanna – The first two books absolutely DESTROYED me so I’m so so ready to let the third book be the cause of my death. I just want to have this book in my hands (on my kindle) and just let Esmae know what’s what (which is to say – a very long nap.

There you go! By my account, that’s 7 books in this post! There’s so many books that are coming out this year and I hope we read some of them this year! What are some of the books you’re heavily looking forward to? Come tell me!

  1. Hahahahaha!! I DID keep to 5 books, thank you very much!! But because I make the rules now (LOL), I think this is a topic we might need to repeat a couple of times this year!! 😂😂😂
Also, I didn’t know Aiden Thomas was writing a PP retelling!! I’m still waiting on Cemetery Boys to arrive… but still, how exciting!!

    1. 😂😂 I rarely keep to the 5 books rule so I guess someone has to!
Writing anticipated reads posts are both hard and so fun to write 😂 I definitely think it could be like a quarterly post or something.
Yes!! They also have some other books coming out in the next couple of years, all which look really good but the PP retelling looks amazing!
Cemetery Boys is STILL not by you?? That is a very sad thing indeed 😭
