Julie and the Phantoms Tag! || aka the best band ever!

I finished the best tv series ever of all time and I’m SO excited that Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads and Sarah @ Commas and Ampersands (Instagram/YouTube) got together and created the questions!

So I finished JatP (the show’s acronym) – my review will be in my What I Watched (will link here when it’s up) – and just absolutely loved it. It’s so precious and the characters are so precious. I loved every second of it and the soundtrack is absolutely, 100% amazing. And pure. So so pure. I’m definitely planning to watch it again very soon. And save approximately 629 gifs from the show. And memorise all the songs so I can belt it along with the band.

Onto the questions and my answers! Thank you to Meeghan and Sarah for (not) tagging me but anyone is welcome to do this tag! Because I have no idea who of my readers have watched it or not.

NOW OR NEVER
a book at the top of your TBR

You mean what ISN’T at the top of my tbr? How about I go for The Unspoken Name by A.K. Larkwood this time? No reason for me not having read this, just that someone needs to hit me over the head (preferably with this book) so I’ll be able to finally read it.

WAKE UP
a book that you were hesitant to read

This is less of a book I was hesitant to read and more of one I was hesitant to keep reading. That’s The Waking Forest by Alyssa Wees. I started out strong and then I wavered and nearly dnf’ed it and then decided to carry on. And I was very glad that I did so! It was enchanting and beautifully well-written and the characters were so amazing (a bit scary though), definitely wouldn’t want to be caught in that forest.

THIS BAND IS BACK
a sequel that you waited a long time for

I mean… If we’re going to talk about sequels we’re waiting for… We can always talk about The Doors of Stone by Patrick Rothfuss 😄😄 Otherwise, I couldn’t wait to read Arc 2: Everybody’s Missing (Somebody) by RoAnna Sylver. Chockblock full of vampires, FEELINGS, and a lot of great writing.

BRIGHT
a book that took you by surprise

Definitely both The Dark Beneath the Ice and Here There Are Monsters by Amelinda Bérubé. Now I’m getting more used to reading horror and I’m so glad that these books got me into reading horror (or more got me into wanting to read more horror.

WOW
an action-packed book

There’s a lot of them but I’m going to choose Wild Sky by Zaya Feli. It has dragons in it, of course it’s gonna be full of action and have that WOW factor! It also has a very cute romance in it!

FLYING SOLO
a book with incredible friendships

Am I right in saying The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic? Sure, the characters can and definitely are absolutely rude to each other but underneath they’re actually all really good friends and would totally help bury a dead body and lie to the FBI when they come a-knocking. Get you friends like that!

I GOT THE MUSIC
a book that got you out of a slump

Fable by Adrienne Young! I started this as I was busy with a very long (read probably like 10 months 😭) read of another book that about sapped all my reading energy. And in came THIS book and took the slump away! Well, like 20% away. But still!

THE OTHER SIDE OF HOLLYWOOD
a book with a great ensemble of characters

LISTEN – if I DON’T say The Gilded Wolves, then you know there’s an imposter running my blog, okay? I’m a huge sucker for the found family trope (is there anyone who isn’t?) and I love that Laila makes everyone eat food and that Hypnos just inserts himself into the conversation (hello, that is me SUMMED UP).

This is one of my favourite songs from the series. It’s Cheyenne Jackson, so of course I love it.

ALL EYES ON ME
the prettiest book in your collection

Oh gosh, this will make me go through my collection. I haven’t read this yet, but probably The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve Tucholke. Either edition, of course. I have the UK edition, but the US edition is gorgeous as well. As well is the story I’m guessing…

FINALLY FREE
a series you wish would never end

I’ll take this opportunity to mention that I thought the Magnus Chase series trilogy would follow the same line like Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus did – you know – 5 or 6 super happy books. But somehow I didn’t get the memo that Magnus Chase would only be 3 books like Kane Chronicles. So I sped-read through the adventures of Magnus. And I think about that mistake EVERY DAY. So I would love to have a 5/6 book series. Or just a neve-rending series detailing all the stupid adventures that Magnus has and how his friends have to help him out.

PERFECT HARMONY
your fave OTP

How am I meant to pick ONE? Okay, fine, Yadriel and Julian hold a VERY special place in my heart. The book is Cemetery Boys and the story grabs you from the get-go. They’re two characters who are just so precious!! Especially with their scenes together 🥰🥰 I’m loving the quote bot on twitter and the fanart just makes me want to read it all over again.

EDGE OF GREAT
a book that is (almost) perfect

I am so glad that Red, White & Royal Blue was worth the hype. Sometimes it’s the sad case of the hype being better than the book – definitely not the case with this book. It’s so good and, as the prompt says, is almost perfect. This book had such a great feeling of fanfiction, which is always a good thing in my eyes. And it was such a joy to read.

UNSAID EMILY
a book that makes you cry

Okay, so, confession time. I don’t cry in books. I might get a little bit emotional, but never really a tear. there’s a few exceptions. One of them is definitely The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I’ll always shed a few tears during my reading of this novel.

YOU GOT NOTHING TO LOSE
a villain you love to hate

I feel like most of my villains I love to hate are in movies or series (like I would say that Caleb in Jatp is such a villain). Does me saying I absolutely loved the mermaids in Into the Drowning Deep count? Because I totally did.

STAND TALL
a book that gave you feelings

A Spark of White Fire most definitely gave me just about the same amount of feelings as listening to this song did. I already laid my heart out in the review – but it was a mixture of how great the characters were and all the extreme feelings they (plus the plot) gave me. I can’t wait for the third book to come out!

Maybe this is a sign I should do more book tags 😂 or just watch Jatp again 😂 Have you watched Julie and the Phantoms? If you have, please come yell about it at me in the comments! Or maybe you like one of my answers! Either way, come chat!

  3. OMG DB!!!!!!! This was PERFECT!!!! (Also, I totally assumed you would use Gilded Wolves for great friendships, so I was very confused when I saw Foxhole, but then you redeemed yourself with ensemble!! 😂)
Can I just say that it makes me so happy that you also loved this series. I’ve watched it 6 times now. I know all the song lyrics. My friends got me Sunset Curve stickers for Christmas. (They’re amazing.) It also might be why I haven’t read any books in December yet!! 😅

    1. Thank you! I loved the questions so much! 😂😂 I was totally about to use Gilded Wolves for friendships but then I saw the ensemble! But then again I could’ve swopped Foxhole and Wolves for either question so that’s good.

6 times?! Better get my rewatches in too! Bet the stickers look so cute! I need to add the soundtrack to my library.
Don’t worry, I haven’t picked a book up in ages, but that’s largely due to Grey’s Anatomy 😆

      1. I’m so glad it’s not just me!! I am definitely in a slump, but fingers crossed we’ll all read something soon!!

      2. I mean it’s the last month of a fairly weird and hard year. I think we’re allowed to have a reading slump or two!
