The Coffee Readathon || My TBR!

Hi everyone! I’m joining The Coffee Readathon, co-hosted by Jayati @ It’s Just a Coffee Addicted Bibliophile and Haley @ The Caffeinated Reader! It’s starting on the 1st of September and it’s lasting for the entire month! I love readathons because they sort of ‘force’ me to read a set amount of books? Which is great!

This looks great because it’s hosted by two fellow bloggers and it’s coffee-themed, what’s more to love?! Let’s look at the prompts and see which books I’ll choose. I’ve been in a reading slump for basically the entire year and I’ve only now started ‘getting back’ into reading (like a month or so back) so hopefully I’m able to tick off all the prompts? PLUS the bonus prompts 🀞🏻🀞🏻 My Goodreads challenge is just… staring at me. They’ve even got recommendations! Which can definitely help you if you’re like me and have a million and 3 books that you need to read, but can’t make a decision to save your life.

Some of the prompts were a bit challenging because I’ve got another readathon happening in October but I don’t know their prompts yet, so I’m picking a book and thinking ‘oh, but what if this fits the other readathon’s prompt?’ πŸ˜‚ but luckily there’s TONS of books to go around!

I’ll be linking both Goodreads and The StoryGraph as I’ve started to use the latter, so if you want to be friends on either/both, add me!

LATTE: Lattes being the most popular coffee drink, read a hyped book

MY BOOK: The Silvered Serpents by Roshani Chokski – I can’t WAIT to read this one, as I loved the first book so much! Even though I do have an e-arc of this, I’ll read that and then listen to the audiobook again, maybe in a month or so.

ICED COFFEE: A summer read and Iced Coffee is the perfect combination!

MY BOOK: I’m a Gay Wizard by V.S. Santoni – As I say later down, I’m not much for seasonal reads, but this has summer holidays in the synopsis and I’ve been meaning to read it!

TURKISH COFFEE: A traditional coffee with special preparation, read a book written by an author of middle eastern origin

MY BOOK: Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi – I love this cover! It’s so pretty!! It has an interesting premise, which I’m looking forward to reading.

ESPRESSO ROMANO: A coffee with a lemon flavour, read a book with a unique plot

MY BOOK: Furyborn by Claire Legrand – I sorely sorely need to read/start this series so here’s to that!

CAFE CREMA: Uncommon in cafe menus, read a book with less than 750 ratings on Goodreads

MY BOOK: Wages of Death by Peter Last (it has 7 ratings on Goodreads, so yeah, less than 750 πŸ˜‚)

CAFE CON LECHE: Common drink in the hispanic communities around the world, read a book written by a Latinx author

MY BOOK: We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia – I’m always excited to see a character that shares my name πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

VIETNAMESE  ICED COFFEE: An Asian invention, read a book set in Asia

MY BOOK: The Girl From the Well by Rin Chupeco – Okay, this is like set in America for a bit, and then moves to Japan, but I think it fits?

Goodreads || The StoryGraph

I have NO idea what fresh new horrors adventures September will bring but here’s to hope!! Or insomnia. Whichever one. But yeah! I’ve listed the three books for the three bonus prompts, so let’s see what happens!

BLACK COFFEE:  It’s a timeless classic, read a classic book

MY BOOK: Things Fall Away by Chinua Achebe – I have it – which I thought I had one of Chinua’s books, but I wasn’t sure which one I had. But I’m pretty sure this is classified as a classic? Or a modern classic?

IRISH COFFEE: A Coffee with a β€˜kick’ to it, read a book with a sassy/fiery character

MY BOOK: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han – I’ve only watched the first movie, but I know Kitty is a sassy character so I’ll choose this one?

PUMPKIN SPICED LATTE: Spooky/Witch/Autumnal Read

MY BOOK: The rules stipulate you can have one book for two prompts if the other prompt is a bonus, so – The Girl From the Well again!

There you go! I searched for the iced coffee prompt a bit because I’m not a season reader lol. Like if a book is set in summer, I’m almost certainly won’t be reading it in summer – mostly because it’s probably set in American summer and my idea of summer is either Christmas and swimming in a pool on Boxing Day or super hot Februaries πŸ˜‚ Maybe that’s why I’ve never been into Christmas? Because most of what’s in movies are all very American-centred? Hmmm, anyway!

Like I said, I have no idea how this month will go, but hopefully I’ll be able to read at least 5? Tell me about your tbrs for September! How many books are you interested in reading? Tell me everything in the comments!

  1. Ohh, I love your TBR! Silvered Serpents is amazing though a bit of a heartbreaker and I’m so excited to read We Set The Dark on Fire and can’t wait to hear what you think of it! ❀
